To have some fun with the March Madness, every student on our team drew a college basketball team that's competing in the NCAA Tournament. To support their chosen team, they then created a poster to hang on the wall.
Now, as the tournament begins and continues, when/if their team loses, their poster comes down. The last student/team standing wins a lunch pizza party! Back when Mr. Foster was in kindergarten, he was featured in his hometown newspaper for March is Reading Month.
The 2nd Annual Chili Wars, sponsored by the 5th Corner (Saline's Teen Center), took place on Saturday, March 9th. About 10 area contestants competed to see who had the best chili. The winner was determined by how much money they raised (votes) during the competition. Mr. Foster, taking first place, raised $536 for the 5th Corner. Mr. Raft provided some stiff competition, raising over $300. Overall, $1,500 was raised by all contestants. Since Mr. Foster won, 15% of the entire raised funds went to his chosen charity, the Foundation for Saline Area Schools. |
