I'm very excited to announce some new advancements that will definitely impact the way classroom instruction is delivered. Classrooms are moving towards the next-generation, and I want to stay as current as possible. I've been able to add a sit-to-stand rolling workstation for myself and all students to use in a variety of ways, and an Apple TV is also now hooked up to our classroom projector. The sit-to-stand rolling workstation allows the user to go from standing with the laptop to sitting in a matter of seconds. It's also on wheels, so it's very mobile. This will be great for teacher and student presentations and other activities. For example, one could go from a quick presentation to a reading conference very quickly. With the Apple TV, I am now able to wirelessly connect to the projector/screen from any point in the classroom, and students are also able to connect with their own devices. I would like the front screen in our classroom to become a "collaboration screen" that allows us all to connect and display learning activities that are using technology. A Great Example of How This Works: Today in Social Studies, I had our textbook pages projected via the laptop to the screen using the rolling workstation. I also had our Mapdemoneum challenge packet projected through our Elmo visualizer, and I was bouncing back and forth between the two. After we did some research through the textbook, it was time to begin the challenge activity in partnerships. I asked the students to use their devices and conduct some further research when the challenge had been completed. They were to move ahead and look for some other examples of population density maps. One student found a really neat one, and he was able to instantly project it up to the collaboration screen using the Apple TV. It was great that we were able to quickly take that student researched map and project it up to the screen wirelessly for all to view. I also found a few good examples, so I instantly and wirelessly reconnected my laptop back to the screen and we viewed those. Below is a three-photo slideshow that models the above information. I'll continue to update all parents on further classrooms improvements and advancements. |
